The Slytherin common room is more an arena than a room - the stone passage opens into a long, rectangular hall, with a high ceiling and a second-story balcony hanging off the right wall. The older students' dorms are upstairs, so they often watch the younger years bicker from above while they chat. Underneath the balcony is a wall of books, the occasional tome drifting in and out of the shelves and over to the small study tables dotting the space. The opposite wall to the entrance is almost entirely glass, showing a view of the lake that tints the whole room green. Students are playing cards, making bets, passing notes, and being careful to not be overheard - such is the Slytherin way.
