Stormy Slytherin Commons
You had hoped to spend the afternoon on your own in the common room studying for tomorrow's exam in charms, but the weather has intervened. It's raining outside, and per usual when this is the case, all of Slytherin house has piled into the common room to chat, snack, and pretend to be bored rigid with everything in the castle.
It's true that you would likely be doing the same thing if you weren't quite so nervous about switching spells, but you feel a little indignant all the same. Surely everyone has something they ought to be doing, and you would prefer they attend to it rather than distract you from your frankly indecipherable notes. Your scribbled instructions seemed perfectly clear during the lecture, but now that you actually need them, they make no sense at all. Resigning yourself to copying out the section from your textbook, you feel very grateful for the extra-caffeinated tea you asked for from the kitchens.
When you have difficulty with a spell, you always feel it's best to learn the theory completely, so that if not by sheer skill, you can master it using logic. Still, this is dreadfully tedious, especially when everyone else seems to be enjoying the rainy afternoon. You wonder if there's any chance of the lake overflowing and somehow flooding Slytherin House... Would that be sufficiently dramatic to warrant postponing the exam...?
