Stately Slytherin Common Room
Another week has passed, and you are back in your Common Room after a sumptuous dinner. With a nice book you borrowed from the Great Library that is safely tucked under your arm, you descend the steps from the entrance of your common room, offering a curt nod and smile to your fellow Slytherins as you make your way through. A group of younger students invited you to join a round of Exploding Snaps, but you politely decline showing them your book. As a seventh year, you thought you were too old for the game. Not wanting to disappoint the group any further, you offered instead to stay for a bit to watch their game and give an honest feedback. Things got interesting as more students crowded the group upon hearing that Slytherin was going to challenge Gryffindor to a friendly match the next day.
Friendly? Oh, but you know better. There was no such thing as friendly when it came to your rival house.
"I have to say, Gryffindor should run for their combined galleons if you lot keep this up." you said with a smug grin on your face. The compliment was returned with excited smiles, and even sinister smirks on their lips.
As your Slytherin friends got more intense and focused in the game-- thanks to your well-meaning compliment, you quietly make a beeline for your favourite black leather armchair situated at a quiet corner of the common room. You are welcomed by the warm, crackling green fire from the fireplace and the majestic view of the underground lake outside which was framed perfectly by the floor-to-ceiling windows. You marvel at the wonderful display of magical and mundane creatures swimming about. It was an evening habit you developed over the years. One that you didn't dare to miss even if you have a ton of coursework to do.
It's a rather peaceful evening after a week of lectures and intense revisions and spell-casting for your upcoming NEWTs, and you wouldn't want to spoil the evening by not enjoying the moment alone. You then take a seat, propping your feet on the foot-stool immediately relaxing at the touch of the familiar surface. With a peaceful and content look on your face, you crack open your book and begin to read.
