Snape’s Office, 5:30pm
It was the end of the school day, and after your encounter with Malfoy in Transfiguration, you were in a fairly foul mood. So, when you had been informed you were to go and see your least favourite Professor down at the very bottom of the school, you were, to say the least, displeased. Still, after Charms, you’d descended the staircase that led to Snape’s Office.
Just as you raised your hand to knock, the door creaked open, and the room was revealed. There were hundreds of jars of weird animals and plants suspended in green and brown liquids, a desk clad with papers and parchments, one large, black, leather armchair, and one small, frail, wooden one. Professor Snape was stood with his back to the door, behind his desk.
‘Enter.’ He snarled. You grimaced. As you stepped into the room, the door creaked closed again and the Potions Professor turned round. As usual, his dark, greasy hair hung just by his shoulders, and his nose cast a fairly nasty shadow on his lower lip. His eyes were snakelike, dark and knowing. You really did not like Severus Snape.
‘Sit.’ He nodded his head towards the feeble wooden chair. You wondered whether he treated all his guests with this level of luxury.
‘Professor - may I ask what this is about?’ He raised his brows, as if he was annoyed you asked. What did he expect?
‘You may.’ He said, flatly. You waited for probably ten seconds, brows furrowed.
‘What is this about?’ Professor Snape moved to his armchair behind the desk, and sat down, hands folded together on top of the papers. It was actually quite a lot messier than you had imagined. This was your first time in Professor Snape’s office, and you were absolutely determined to make it the last.
‘It had come to my attention, that a certain pupil has been having...’ he glared straight at you, ‘issues. This pupil assures me that you have been... disruptive. I have been informed of an issue that arose today in a Transfiguration class, an issue in which you were insultive and childish. Said pupil’s parent has written to the school and filed a complaint.’ Malfoy.
‘Already?!’ You blurted out.
‘So you confess?’ Snape seized your sudden outburst.
‘God, no, Profes- I know this is Malfoy, and he’s obviously going to turn this back on me to try and get me into trouble! He’s done it a hundred times!’
‘I take no pleasure in having to give students detention, Miss, but I have received formal complaints from a parent,’
‘Yes, Lucius Malfoy! You of all people should know what he’s like, controlling, sadistic madm-‘
‘Watch... your... viperous... tongue. It would be very foolish of you to insult a key Governor of the school in my office, young lady. As punishment for your actions, you will receive detention with me on Friday evening. The parent has also requested to speak to you in person. I will accompany, of course, but it is imperative that you attend, are... we... clear?’ You gulped. Face Lucius Malfoy? The last time you’d seen him was in that nightmare in the Room of Requirement... what if he tried to kill you? Or kidnap you? Surely Snape would interject, but what if he was in on it too? It truly wouldn’t surprise you.
‘Professor Snape, I can’t see Lucius Malfoy.’
‘It is out of my hands. He is a Governor. You will return to my office tomorrow at seven o’clock and I will escort you to Mr Malfoy.’
‘Please, Profess-‘
‘Are... we... clear?’
‘Professor Sn-‘
‘Answer me.’
‘Professor, Draco called me a blood traitor!’ Snape visibly retreated at this; his expression seemed to soften ever so slightly, and for the first time, you thought he was going to back down his hostility.
‘You may leave now. Here, seven o’clock, tomorrow.’ You bit your inner cheek, stood, thought about saying something, and then turned and left. You made sure to slam the creaky door, too.
