Rita Skeeter Interview, 1pm
This was one of your biggest Hogwarts mistakes; agreeing to meet Rita Skeeter. You had felt nothing but dread ever since Care of Magical Creatures, when Skeeter had scooted over to you and asked for a ‘chat’ at lunchtime. Not wanting to interrupt Hagrid’s lesson, and knowing Rita would eventually force you anyway, you had said yes. Now the time had come though, and you sort of wished you had put up a fight of some sort.
‘Come in, come in!’ Rita greeted you excitedly, beckoning you into... a broom cupboard. But she acted as though it was her office, holding the door open and smiling at you over her half-moon glasses.
‘Sit, sweetheart,’ you looked around, and then reluctantly sat on a rather rickety looking old barrel.
‘Now, let’s get started, shall we? You don’t mind if I use Quick Quotes Quill?’
You shrugged, awkwardly.
‘So,’ she held her hands up as if she was about to spill some gossip to a close friend, ‘tell me all about Harry.’ You furrowed your brow.
‘He’s... fine.’ You said, almost questioningly. Rita raised one thin eyebrow and leaned forward. You instinctively leaned backwards.
‘And what about his friend; Rod?’
‘Uh, Ron. He’s fine, as well.’ Rita held your eye for a few seconds, then winked. Your brows knit even tighter together.
‘You and Harry went to the Christmas Ball together, as a couple,’ you tried to correct her, but failed, ‘how was that?’
‘Fine, but we - ‘ She squealed.
‘Our readers love a romance!’ She whispered.
‘No because - ‘
‘Do you think Harry Potter is going to win the Tournament?’
‘Uh... well, I hope so.’ You tried again to explain how you and Harry had mutually agreed to go to the Ball together because you had no one else to ask.
‘More than Cedric?’ She pressed, looking as though she had said You-Know-Who’s name.
‘Well, um... I don’t know, I suppose so; I don’t really know Cedric; sorry, I thought this was about - ‘
‘Handsome boy, yes?’ Another wink.
‘To some, I suppose, but not - ‘
‘This has been, a true pleasure!’ Rita thrust out her hand, her nails a very hot pink.
‘B-but what about the Tournament? I thought you wanted to ask - ‘ But Rita was already opening the door. She had to duck quite substantially when standing in the broom cupboard. As you walk back out into the corridor, Rita gave a small wave, a third wink, and then shut the door.
