Quidditch Grounds, 9:52am
‘Bit early fer’ you lot, isn’ it?’ Hagrid called, holding his hand to his face in an attempt to shield himself from the sun. He was standing under a ten foot high hedge which weaved in and around the Quidditch Pitch, holding an extremely large pair of garden shears.
‘What’s all this?’ Fred asked, as you neared Hagrid. Fang barked welcomingly, and allowed you to ruffle his head a little. Fred, George and yourself had spotted the large green mass from the Owlery, and had hastily hurried across the grounds to have a closer look.
‘It’s quite...’ you scanned the now deflated looking Quidditch stands and winced, ‘big.’
‘Don’ worry,’ Hagrid said, raising his eyebrows and giving a small smile, ‘you’ll get the pitch back afterwards.’
‘Some sort of maze, then?’ George inquired, poking his head through the square gap at the very front of the bushes. Hagrid simply held a large, fat finger to his lips.
‘Something they have to find?’ Fred pressed, Hagrid now looking slightly panicked. He shook his head, looking as though he was desperate to tell you. Fred and George exchanged glances.
‘A... person?’ Hagrid turned to the hedge and began to snip at random leaves and twigs.
‘An animal?’ No response.
‘A door?’
‘A chest?’
‘A bag of money?’
‘A trophy?’ Hagrid’s eyes shifted sidewards, and he pushed his chin forward, muttering something indistinctively. Fred and George folded their arms, looking very satisfied indeed. You remembered Crouch, and how Harry had been very keen on finding out what had happened to him.
‘Hagrid, you wouldn’t happen to know anything about Mr Crouch, and where he is, would you?’ Hagrid turned, looking genuinely puzzled.
‘Bin’ wondering the same thing, if I’m hones’. Strange, that feller’. Wouldn’t trust him, between you ‘n me,’ He said in a low voice, looking over his shoulders. ‘’Lot o’ sketchy folks around Hogwarts this year. You three better be lookin’ after yerselves. And yer’ sister, too.’ He nodded to the twins.
‘Oh an’, er,’ Hagrid shuffled to the side a bit, and bent down considerably to your height.
‘Professor Moody’s been lookin’ for yer’. Wants a word.’ You nodded, and Hagrid smiled warmly.
‘Best be off, I think. Meeting someone for help with Herbology homework.’
‘Woo.’ Sang the twins in unison, waggling their fingers in your face. You grinned and laughed goodbye to Hagrid, walking your way back up the stone steps to the castle.
‘It’s not like that, actually.’ You finally said, the three of you entering the courtyard. It dawned on you that they’d been talking about something else entirely. Their faces spread into wide smiles.
‘’Course not.’ They said in unison.
