SLytherins would not have stood for dripping and creaking. However, there is no getting rid of the sounds of the Black Lake. Students study in the common room away from the hustle and bustle of the castle. Ambition fuels the desire for a nice place to study. Fires keep the eerie room warm and live-able. The common room is a favorite place to study.
