Here you've taken to your new dorm partner, Hermione's advice, and decided to ration out the lucky potion throughout your study. Of course, this way you'll know what to study for and stay focused, and it's not quite cheating if you're not actually drinking the potion during the test, is it? At this point, Hermione had scuttled off to confer with the 'Magical Misdemeanours and the Modern Law' to check if doing this was legal at all.
