an idle day - hogwarts express
You've finally pushed past the bustle of students boarding the Hogwarts Express and managed to get a carriage for Ron and Hermione, all be it that you have to share the carriage with a pair of annoying second year lovebirds as well.
It's been a while now since you've gotten in the train, and with the initial buzz of meeting up again having calmed down, things have settled into a comfortable silence between the three of you.
On your left, Hermione's drinking some hot tea as a quick remedy for her sore throat and runny nose. Naturally, she's worried that being sick might affect her studies so she's nestled between the corner and Hedwig's cage, reading Advanced Potion-Making yet again.
On your right, Ron's busy scarfing down some Cauldron Cakes as well as some odd purple 'limited edition' concoction that the Honeydukes Express has whipped up. He's absent-mindedly fiddling with his deck of cards from the Chocolate Frogs. You've somehow managed to get a Rita Skeeter card in your own Chocolate Frog, and at the rate she's peering through her glasses at you, you'd pay anything to swap cards with someone. Maybe if you wait long enough, you'll catch the rumble of the Honeydukes Express trolley passing by and try your luck again.
The muted chatter of students within their carriages, the occasional horn of the Hogwarts Express, the dull footsteps of people sneaking along the corridors into different carriages; the sounds wash around you as the train meanders steadfastly on towards Hogwarts, your second home.
